The Maternity Ring is a patented farrowing pen developed by the SunPork Group in Australia.
Key Features
The sow is given:
- Freedom of movement at all times
- Ability to turnaround at all times
- Opportunity to nest-build (when substrate is provided)
- Opportunity to contact neighbouring sows
The piglets are given:
- Easy udder access
- Protection rail around sow
- Appropriate creep environment
- Reduced spread of infection between pens
The staff are assured:
- Fast and safe inspection of piglets from easy access to the creep/piglet nest
- Easy maintenance of good hygiene in the pens (fully slatted floor)
The Maternity Ring has been developed specifically to fit onto the footprint of an existing farrowing crate space (4.3m2).
